Putin allegedly plans to sail a fleet of warships along the British coast as it makes its way to Syria, it has emerged.
The Royal Navy is said to be on red alert as Russia’s flagship Admiral Kuznetsov and seven other vessels make their way to Aleppo to bomb rebel forces, according to a defence source.
The fleet will be practise bombing north of Scotland before making its way along the English Channel, just a mile off the coast of Britain, reports The Times.
Two British warships are expected to escort the vessels safely past the UK, which could arrive as early as next week.
The Kuznetsov will then reportedly take up position by the coast of Syria for six months, the newspaper claims.
